Sega Genesis Model 2 - Controller Port/Controller Plug fix

Hey guys.

I would like to know if you have some experience with genesismodel2 controller problems. i bought this genesis on ebay a week ago but controllers didnt work at all. Later on, i found out that if move the controller plug upwards it will make the controller to work.

I tested the controller port with conductivity from the pins to the board and they seem OK.

is there a way i can test the controller plug? if the problem is the controller plug.. do you guys know a way to fix it?

Sounds like you just need to reflow the solder joints on the controller ports, just heat them up with a soldering iron, add a little extra solder and you're done.

i tested the joints with a voltage tester (on conductivity) and they were ok. do you think i should reflow anyways?

You should reflow the ports. After 25+ years, the solder can become all funky and stuff. Hell it might just be the controller itself maybe.
