So i have a Sega genesis model 2 and the power supply is weird. when turned on normally it doesn't turn on, then when i push down on the power supply plug thing to the genesis it works and when i let go it doesn't, so i usually put something on it for it to work. So today i opened it up and i was messing around with it and i saw the black thing for the power was loose. so again i pushed the thing to normal and it works and when i let go it doesn't. does anybody know what is exactly wrong with it or how keep the thing to normal.

You need to reflow the solder on the thing. If you open up your Genesis model 2 you might see two wires on the power jack. I think that was Sega's stop gap regarding the power port problems, and apparently that didn't work. Sometimes the connection between the motherboard and the power jack is loose.

One thing Sega does that Nintendon't, make you buy parts to repair the damned thing.

This is a super easy fix. Just find someone with a screwdriver and a soldering iron.

Could be a good time to buy a soldering iron and learn how to solder. This fix is really as easy as opening the thing up, applying heat and pushing a little solder onto it. It can seem daunting at first though I suppose.

See there you go, not much too it! The hard part will be when you have to replace the capacitors, but as long as the system works, it's great.

Trust me, all you know are the bare bones basics. There is a lot to learn about soldering to get it down pat.
