hi i have a sega katana set 5.24 and could i rip my games to the hard drive so i could run the my games on the hard drive as the website segakatana.com is down so if anyone can run games on the sega dev kit
Hi, You can run a Dreamcast game from HKT-01 HDD but for that you have to dump your game using your favorite methode (I prefer this one : BBA + HTTPD-ACK) once you have your dump extract the files from the .bin track Then you have to connect your KATANA to your PC using SCSI cable. After that you need to use GD-Workshop, create a new project and rebuild the game using the file of your dump. PS : It will be cool if someone can post segakatana achive files
Ah. I didn't get the context without the ".com". raylyd: Whatever you do, dump the contents of the Katana HD before you destroy anything on there by starting to copy games to it. And I mean dump the disk block by block, not copying the files. It would be a shame to destroy any remnants of game devlopment on there.
yes i have backed up the hdd and the game thats on the hdd is called giant killers but the files are backup and burned on a dvd for backup i have a bba but i have used a seril cable as i have been haveing probleams tryin to sort out my windows 98se pc as its crap p3 i have tryed and tryed to use it i go all the know how but the last time i backup a game i used a linksys but i went faulty would not go on the net buffalo i try it no luck but i will be hopefully geting a dlink wich i know will work as seen some videos of people ripping dc games if anyone knows undergroundgamer i will upload the sega katana contains on that website so some one ho know what they are doing
As mentioned over at Dreamcast-scene, read "getstart.txt." Section 7 has a full explanation about how to use GD-Workshop to run games from the hard drive. I think it also explains how to set it so you can run the game from the hard drive without using GD-Workshop (so the Katana can work standalone). If that part isn't in "getstart.txt", check the help guide in GD-Workshop. The one thing you'll need that the tutorial doesn't cover are the IP.BIN and IP0000.BIN files. You'll need to use IPMaker to create them (check the utl/dev folder). In GD-Workshop, after you've created a new project and are at the "Disc" tab, set the "System Area File (single)" to the path / filename of IP0000.BIN and set the field below that to IP.BIN.
