Its not fake, a sega representative has confirmed it, apparently there are some early versions of the console in a grabber style sega arcade machine in london.

 

Apparently the only games it can play are "Java-based"

I think this is fake but it could also be a move by Sega where by they create small time hardware in order to get back into the vdeo game hardware business but i doubt it.

I question why sega would make such a device like this when plenty of companies are making MP4 devices that can do a lot of things besides play video and music including plenty from china. I consider Sega to be a ex console developer but now a video game software maker and nothing else (Except maybe a future console maker again).

 

It's probably a Chinese built thing they put the Sega name to. I doubt it was developed by them internally.

Even Phillips does this these days.

 

I don't like the way it looks. All the buttons on one side? I bet its fake, either that or hell has frozen over.

I'm willing to bet it will flop (if its even real), so far it looks like a lame N-gage copy...and that's terrible.

Looks to me like 3Do is on the right track, this is probably just one of those generic Chinese PMP things with a Sega brand on it. The most you'll be able to get out of it would be a Genesis emulator.

 

I haven't bought a console since the original Xbox, but I'd so buy a real Sega console if one came out.

People do realise that Sega do still do make electronic items? In fact they still sell a reasonablely successful console and still make money. The fact they are called Sega Toys is neither here nor there.

Still the device does look like a generic device that a branch of Sega have slapped on a logo for UFO catcher doll machines. Which means they must be worth <5 quid. Somehow idiotic journalists are putting 2 and 2 together and getting 52 Trillion.

 

A sega representative from sega USA, it has been confirmed on a number of different sites, still this is not supposed to be a games console, its a portable media player with flash game support.
