As I was going around the internet with some free time on my hands, I found this little gadget: http://www.smspower.org/forums/15039-UnreleasedSegaGraphicBoardV20 This was a little peripheral for the Master System that plugged in to the controller port, and with a special cartridge, you could draw 16 color bitmaps. Quite interestingly, (and ironically) it was shown in a prototype pamphlet along with the Mega Drive Floppy Drive, and was supporting hardware for the Mega Drive.
