Hi, I have a master system II that doesn't start games from cartridges, instead always boot with the inbuilt game.

Any idea in what can it be? tried 4 working cartridges with the same result, there is no corrosion on the pins and for sure the cartridge slot isn't worn out.

Could be slot pins not making contact with cart connector.

Also check for cold solder joints.

Never use Brasso - it is an abrasive intended for cleaning brass. Contacts on carts are NOT brass. Likewise, don't use an eraser.

The correct method is using isopropyl alcohol, available from all good electronics distributors.

Basically, check continuity with an open cart inserted using a multimeter for starters.
