It's cool but why do they always stick the same games on these collections. Flicky, Golden Axe and Sonic are always there. Next up are Streets Of Rage, Shinobi and Italia '90. I'd wish theyiD put a bit more effort in to what games go on to these things. Here's what I'd put since you can only use Sega made titles.

    Streets Of Rage 2
    Super Shinobi 2
Sonic 2 (batter than 1 IMO)
    Super Monaco GP 2
Art Of Fighting (Sega did the Mega Drive conversion which was very good)

I think the reason that they put the same old games is that they're all small (up to 4M.) The games you're mentioning are 8-16 and would surely make it difficult to pull off cheaply. The bottom line is that pirate consoles are ugly and sucky. Instead of putting any built in games, they should have just put a cartridge connector and a way to play two player.

    I loved the mini-megadrive :)

  6. This is pretty cool, does anyone know if this this was released in the US? We have the Atari, Namco (which is great) and Midway TV game units, but this is the first I've ever seen of this unit.

No pirates were "released" over here. If I go to a flea market though, I'm bombarded with Russian and Arabic Polystation crap.

This item is not pirate, at least as far as I can tell. Sega put it out. And you can get in in the states, slightly different games. It ships with a Tetris TV game and a bundle of Taito games. $20-25. Also from my experience, it is the pirate stuff that HAS the cart slot and second player controller, but I could be wrong.

What you're talking about is nothing but pirated. The fact that it has Taito games is a dead giveaway - SEGA can only use first party games in these things, games it designed/owns. The ONPY real plug and play Genesis retro unit is this one, and it comes with the exact same titles that the MD PlayTV does (Gamestop's listing of the games included is erroneous):

As mentioned above, there is a US/Canada version, the Sega Genesis Arcade Legends unit . It's a bitch to find, I can only find it at one place, Gamestop, and they want 414.99 for shipping to Canada (economy shipping in US is like $2 though).

The packaging is sweet, old retro original silver bluish Genesis fonts and all. I have already ordered the Japanese Megadrive one but still want the Genesis one.

What sucks ass about the Us/Europe versions of this machine though are that soem shitty toy company's logo appears in the middle of the controller. At least with the MegaDrive Play TV JP there's a *SEGA* Toys logo in the middle.

That's the one I was talking about. I meant it comes in a case with two other different products. One features Taito games while the other is variations of Tetris. Are you sure that it's different games, because I think I looked on the box at GameStop and saw it was different from the MD Play. Could be wrong about that, though. Also, if you want me to ship you one, I get a discount with FedEx.

Ohh, that's waht you meant. Yeah. Radica makes Tetrid and other plug and play things as well that look smiliar.

That would be great if I could have it shipped to you and you ship it here to me. Or if you could pick one up for me and send it here and I could pay you thru PayPal? :smt023 anu idea how much it would cost via FedEx wiht your discount?

PM me your address and I can find out. I could just pick one up at GameStop. They're $25 there and $20 for the Tetris and Taito ones, so if anyone knows of a cheaper place, that'd be cool. Maybe Best Buy or Wal Mart or something.
