So I got a Sega Mega Jet, but to my chagrin, this model does not appear to have any way to connect to a tv. The models that I have seen on the web have some sort of a/v connection in the upper left corner of the console. Mine, however, only has a cord coming out of the top with two connectors. One is larger than the other and they appear to me to look like the headphone connectors found on airline headphones. One of them must be for the power and one the sound. The big question is, where do I find an apadter to play this gem?
There were two versions of the Mega Jet. The original one for use during flights with Japan Airlines and the commercial one (released in march 94). According to your description, you may own the original one from Japan Airlines. Different from the Mega Jet for home use, that one didn't have a TV-Output (DIN-box). It can be that the cable looming out of your Mega Jet is for the armrest-monitor in 1st Class JAL-flights (in 1994).
Well, nothing to see really, but I did take it apart and find that the curly cable coming out the side is actually just connected to a standard a/v slot inside the casing. The only problem is that the regular size connector and ac adapter won't fit because the plastic casing fits too tightly. So....in order to play it without altering it, you have to take it apart rendering it fairly uncomfortable. oh well.
Still some photos would be very nice, for the ones that have never seen one (like me for example). ~Xeon
Yeah, it was a seller from Indonesia. Legend has it a shipment of Mega Jets were lost in a pirate attack in the straight of Malacca. Apparently those stolen Mega Jets were the ones that appeared on Ebay a few years ago.
Is that shipment anything to do with the Edge magazine forum auction? I was involved in that and all 100 of us sealed a Megajet for £44 each from the auction by combining our cash to cover the whole bid plus postage costs. In that incident we were told they had been recovered from an airport warehouse, however the version I received was TV compatible and came boxed with a copy of DragonBall Z.
Nope they were the ones stolen by the pirates! The guy we bought them off used to post on this board and said the story behind them was "interesting" but wouldn't elaborate!
They were probably stolen then. Handling stolen goods is a crime you know, you should give yourself up to the police now.
