I think it has been cut at one point as the speakers werent connected.

Monitor, power supply, main board and wiring loom would be going on ebay.

Shame it's so far... plus the only spare generic cab I have at the moment needs a lot of work, unfortunately. I wonder if Out Run in Liverpool would have a cab he'd do a swap with.

Why would you be getting rid of the monitor? See, this is why we say it's a shame - you ARE ripping the guts out of it. It should stay complete as it is, being a rare cab.

 

What's wrong with putting MAME inside, I have MAME on my Naomi Universal Cabinet with Radeon 7950 and Dual core CPU. I just took one wood plate that Naomis have and put the computer hardware there made custom JAMMA harness for the cab and I have J-PAC to connect the controls to the PC hardware.

Then I can just take this wood plate with the PC outside of the cab in like 1minute and put JAMMA board and play ( I replaced original chassis with Trisync chassis).

I can now play:
- All standard 3-4 button JAMMA games plug and play
- Atomiswave plug and play
- Neogeo plug and play
- MAME plug and play

Of course I have separate cabs for Naomi games don't want to mix them up in JAMMA

You can restore the cab just fine and make easy plug and play with J-PAC to the cabinet for MAME.

If someone does want to swap my machine for a mame cabinet i will consider it. But you would have to come to me for it.

I would take my shit out, and give you all the parts it came with and in the condition they were. As long as the cabinet you want to swap has the arcade controls and will fit a 21" tv. Oh and is not bare wood.

This is a rare cabinet. It should be preserved AS IS.

He's saying there's no issue like he could reverse anything you do. This isn't true, as he's ripping out the monitor, board, loom etc. and selling them! If you don't HAVE all that stuff, you can't put it back! And they aren't easy to come by!

A Naomi cabinet - who cares?! They're just generic Japanese cabinets. There are loads of those.

You could use an ArcadeVGA card to connect the monitor, although they're not the cheapest item. Still - cheaper than buying a monitor!

Were I to have a machine in good working order, I'd certainly consider a swap, although Liverpool is a bit of a mission from here! I can certainly see if anyone's interested, although Kev (OutRun) hasn't been online in a while, sadly. I have a friend up there, I'll see whether he's still got anything and may be interested.

 

I know about the ArcadeVGA thing and thats too expensive.

I bought a 21" Samsung CRT tv for £20 and that fits in the cabinet so i will be using that and a scart to vga.

Yeah, i you find someone who wants it, i will consider...

 

wtf ArcadeVGA, I have Trisync Monitor that plays 640x480@60HZ windows resolution no problem and also before this in old cab I had 15khz monitor, I just used Soft15khz... Forget about crap TVs.

 

Yeah, but i cant be arsed with messing about with some software either. Plus the power supply that powers the arcade monitor is not in good shape.

The tv looks great, i tried Super Probotector on my Wii and it looks awesome. Infact i think i filmed it.

 

its your cab mate, do what you want to it, i understand everyone's opinion about keeping it as is but at the end of the day its yours and if you don't fancy a full refurb for it or dont want to spend that kind of money then yeah, turn it into a neat mame cab, its a shame to lose the original aspects of it but its probably been sat unused for years now so at least it will be getting used as a mame cab which is better than sitting in some garage for years rotting away

as it has a main screen and a smaller screen (if im seeing it correctly) i would be tempted to have a 2 monitor setup so that one plays some cool animations etc. or displays information about the game etc. whilst you are playing on the main monitor

Umm, you do realize that a CRT TV is STILL 15kHz, right? It won't take a standard RGB out from a PC. Sure, it'll do output from a TV card, but that'll be crap. An LCD TV, however, would have the VGA port. Unless it's a very special CRT.

I'm actually tempted to grab a bookie cab that I could get my hands on and shove a panel in it for you and swap with that. It even has a PC in it. I've seen them done up to look like Japanese cabs before, and they look great!

Oh, and I'd say HyperSpin is more popular than MaLa.

Yes... but completely pointless using a TV if you have a 15kHz arcade monitor! Easier to replace the PSU if that's what's at fault.

 

So thats why a Scart to VGA cable doesnt work? Ive got a gfx card with s-video, im gonna try that.

If you want to swap cabs, i would have to see pictures first.

 

As a general rule (there are exceptions)... Most CRT TVs don't take 31khz RGB. Most CRT PC monitors don't take 15khz RGB.
LCDs with a Scart socket and VGA socket might allow both, but it'd be likely handled through separate jacks.

Scart to VGA would require a display that accepts 15khz from its VGA input.

 

Right, i give up with the scart to vga and tried s-video. The picture is good enough so thats what i am going to be using.

In my opinion I think you should keep the MTC9000 and just use the soft15k software combined with a JPAC2 adapter.

Have you got progress pictures of how your getting on with the restore?

Im still considering keeping the MTC9000, i was told its working.

The side art is meh. Youll see it in the video, bits are missing but its there.
