Love the optimism, but this topic has been discussed a lot ever since the Dreamcast. Unless you can provide a no risk multi-million dollar business case, Sega isn't listening.
lol Here we go again, you can get 1 billion people to sign the petition, does not changes the fact that Sega are in no position to re-enter the console market in any serious way. No amount of enthusiasm or fanboy wishes will change that not to mention the fact the SEGA today is not even the same "Sega" you have always known and loved. These dreams have been surfacing over and over since the demise of the Dreamcast and the real reasons for that tie into the same reasons they would not be successful today from bad relations with developers to mistrust from consumers.
These "petitions" are laughable and useless. Get a few million dollars in cash to fund it and Sega might consider it.
I love the prototype pictures, especially the controller. Unfortunately as much as I would love to see a resurection of sega consoles like they were in the 90's. Too much has changed in the industry since the dreamcast. Everyone expects all the DLC, online features and shit that companies pull off nowdays. EDIT - I'm not saying DLC, internet connectivity and stuff is not warrented. It's just that most big companies are abusing it and they continue to do it until we stop buying it.
I'd swear those petitions were written by a 12-year-old high on sugar. The poor grammar, complete lack of understanding how the console industry works, the "patent" being nothing more than a drawing of what it should look like and the childish "nicknames" for the competitor's consoles make it seems like something a kid would have dreamed up during the SNES vs Mega Drive days. They even think "Blast Processing" was a real thing! Unfortunately, for someone to remember the days when Sega made consoles, they'd have to be much older that that, so it goes from "adorable naivety" to "stunted man-child".
lol, those links made me laugh. Got to love the internet, people post the funniest stuff. Gonna start a petition to get to get Atari to resell ET for the 2600, my copy got buried in a landfill.
is this kid serious? holy christ, I need a moment... You would NEED a 32X to play those games? Because...why not use emulation. Fuck it! Millennium - might have been a good title if it was released in 2000, but we're already over a decade into the "new millennium". which by the way - has 2 N in it.
The only way you are going to get segammy to make a new console is with a record-breaking kickstarter: if you can't get at least half a million dudes put $400 on the table for the Dreamcast2 then segammy ain't listening.
Funny, I quite fancy that new Atari though! Sega will never be able to re enter the hardware market though, that time has passed so let's move on!
