/ronseal I foolishly plugged my 110V AC adaptor into 230V mains and blew the adaptor. I am looking to replace it, will a Megadrive II adaptor work?
Doesn't it have the voltage/power info on the bottom? From what I've gathered, the MM says it needs 1,3 A, while the MD2 power supply only gives out 850 mA, so that could be a problem.
This is indeed a problem. You need Sega part MK-4122 or JVC part AA-S95J, which put out enough amperage to drive both the Genesis and Sega CD boards in the CDX. If you're in the States, you can order this from the Sega Parts store: http://www.leftcoastgames.com/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=99
You need any old regulated or switched mode 9v (8.5 to 10V is fine) 1amp (anything slightly higher is fine) PSU with a negative tip 5.5mm / 2.1mm connector (sometimes know as Type E).
