I have recently come into possession of a Japanese Naomi Dead or Alive 2 Cartridge. Unfortunately this is not compatible with my EU Naomi BIOS. I know the DoA2 millennium cartridge is compatible with all bioses. I notice Andy Geezer sells a DoA2->Millenium Rom (HERE) does anyone know whether it is just a matter of desoldering the old Rom and putting the new one on or is it more involved? Likewise can anyone confirm that this "new" configuration will be compatible with my setup? Grateful for any assistance....
Might be easier to buy a universal Japanese BIOS rom (you can buy them for less then $20) and swap it on the Naomi motherboard, although this will give Japanese text on some of your EU games... It is also reasonablely easy (if you can solder) to piggy back a Japanese ROM onto the EU ROM and have a switch between the CE pin on the motherboard to the CE pins on the chips and then you can flick a switch and choose between the two ROMs before switching on giving you a choice between Japanese and EU games...
I agree with jamestex it would be alot safer just to buy a universal japanese or japanese bios rom and swap out your european bios (I believe you can just pull the bios rom out, don't think it's soldered at all)
I know this was a while ago, but the EPROM on the cart you need to reprogram/replace to remove the region lock and/or convert to Millennium version is socketed. Simple job.
