Ah, ok. Not audio ports then. I'm going after a PSU right now so fingers crossed on that and the I/O Board will probably arrive next month.
Neat. Yeah as said those black ports are for linking. Again as said in this thread. It has a VGA port (JVS Standard) but not all monitors will support the video feed. You can always try first (never hurts) but there is a chance your LCD/TV won't support it. CRTs are good to go though. Make sure to read the manual first and set the DIP settings to 31khz or you might get a false impression of it not working.
Dynamite Deka is a big pile of crap game has infinite bugs and its pretty bad, i sold a cart to some operator time ago and it made 18 euros on a week, that proves how bad this game is ...
wow, if it's that bad then maybe I can get one cheap? Once I have the system up and running and some cash (when ever that will be) I'll pay visit to that local arcade I made a video of to see if they have anything for sale. They've got loads of retro games for Naomi plus they also had both Dynamite Deka titles for Naomi. Yakumo
For those of you wanting to experiment with going the budget route, you can play some of the Capcom fighters for chump change: - PC power supply (w/ some wiring changes) - Hacked DC controllers (http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=18836&sid=cccbbf09d581f4e0035d18d9eb495c3c) - VGA cable / RCA audio cable Not all games support the DC pads, but it's a cheap way to start out and then buy what you need as you pick up games that don't work w/ that setup. -ud
It's been a while since I monkied around with my NAOMI stuff, but I believe it's the game that looks for the I/O board, so depending on the game you are running, you will or will not be required to have an I/O board. -ud
Interesting bit about the DC controller compatibility. Though regarding the link, I'd rather temporarily dismantle a DC for (or externally source) a controller port unit and then wire onto that instead of cutting a cord. I don't think I'd be able to cut a controller cord unless I was repairing it or you had a knife to my genitals.
It's looking good so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10DoUARJRUc A big thanks to subbie who's helping out via PM's and thansk to all who have sent links. Yakumo
Neat. Now let's just cross our fingers that the IO board uses the 60 pin harness that other sega JVS io boards use. If so then we can just follow the same mapping. Do remember though. You will need to rig something to power the JVS IO board. While the board has +5v, +12Gv & GND in, You only need to give it +5v & Gnd. I have a cheap rig made from stealling the power plug from a broken PSP and soddering it to a plug that came with my JVS. Then I just use a cheap USB->PSP charge cable to power it. =D
The Naomi is now up and running, well sort of. My IO Board only has 2 buttons (A & B if you will) so you can sort of play. I need to get a 60 pin IO. Anyway, for those who wanted to see Dead or Alive Millennium running, here it is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNq_biQNI5U Yakumo
Well, It's a start. Man If I could get enough people interested I should just build ready to go JVS Kits so people can just buy them and wire up the input to what they want and go. Yakumo is pretty much going through what I had to go through. Essentially baby steps bit by bit. =P
I sure am but if it wasn't for your help I'd still be looking at a blank screen. You were right about the wiring too. At first it looks like a hell of a job but it's actually not that hard. A bit fiddly but not hard at all. Yakumo
glad to see you go into the arcade collection thing. I wish I had the space and money to have a go at it.
As long as you stay reasonable and your target is more recent stuff (naomi, type-x,system 246/256), the space requirement is pretty minimal. Like all my 246/256 software is sitting on my shelf in ps2 game cases and I have a pretty sizable collection. Naomi needs a bit more space but if you get into GD stuff then it's about the same as my 246 stuff. The only real space eater is when you get into collecting on the PCB side then on the interchangeable software side.
