Any directions as far as how to do the switch between the onboard controls and the p1 external controller?

 

When lifting the leg, add an spst switch between the solder pad and the leg itself.
Pay attention, for surface mount component pins are fragile and are not meant to be worked on much. You'll also want to insulate the connection on the chip with heat-shrinkng plastic sleeves.
