Hey everyone, It looks like my Nomad's AC port might be on its way out. ive seen on the net that i can solder the points back and this should work but ive never soldered before so i dont fancy making it worse. is there any options i can take to fixing this without the need to re solder? Thanks
Just fill it with 1/2 gallon of hot glue. or epoxy. Then sell it on ebay "working like new" with no returns. ...that's the new way to sell retro, apparently. :/
Yeah probably this. On some rare occasions the traces might be broken. The Genesis model 1 and SMS both used the same sized barrel connector and polarization (but a difference in the outer jacket) so for years I used my Genesis cable on my SMS which eventually broke the traces. Ended up just soldering some wires in there and forgetting about it while using the proper AC adapter.
in the uk the master system 2 and megadrive 1 use the same psu i have used them interchanable for years with no damage at all. It is not possible to break traces using a psu that fits!
Yes it is. Its to do with strain relief and too much physical force being put on the socket. Look at the early xbox consoles, the power port solder got broken and that was using the correct lead.
