hello everybody i recently brought my nomad to repair (it has a vertical blue line on the right of the screen, solved by soldering the screen ribon...no problems with his now...) my problem is that now the AV out is bringing me a purple line on the left of the screen with us games (well so far i only tester sonic) but nothing like that on pal games (quack shot, castle of illusion...) of course this line doesn't appear on my nomad screen here is a picture to see what am talking about as you can see the image is not properly centered :/ thanks for your help
Off center picture is common for RGB. I don't think the game should affect that. Still Nomad is an ntsc system and like any original ntsc megadrive, runs all games at 60hz speed (regardless whether the game supports it).
well as long i can remember i didn't get this problem with my old tv (a bravia 32bx) with street fighter 2 the new challenger i don't have such problem with my snes (us) junior with the same tv and still scart cable :/ (in ALTP for exemple it's perfectly centered) no upscaler here, do you think it can solve the issue ?
i will try on my led sony (that have a scart problem but it's another story ^^) it's better but still not that...i mean with my snes jr i have good (it's not crt i can't say it's perfect) quality image here is a snes jr picture : and here is the nomad picture : well it's better but still not that ^^ is there a way to improve and not have a "square" around the image (i tried various kind of adjustment, i can't get an ideal image) thanks for your lights
Looks to me like your tv's overscan is set a little tight. Overscan compensated for variability in the positioning of crt images. Often old video equipment would use the edges for diagnostic codes or other random stuff unseen to the user. Modern tv's don't need Overscan but usually do it anyways to support old equipment. The amount of overscan depends on both the tv and the video source as there can be substantial variation. The only fix is to adjust the overscan on your tv. Look in settings for any overscan zoom or position options. Btw this is why tv's and computer monitors don't always mix...
This is your TV, nothing wrong with your nomad. Even my CRT displays letterboxing like that using MD2 hardware. It was one of the quirks of the MD / Genesis video output and is nothing to worry about. Use a CRT (the proper way to play Genesis) or get a fancy XRGB if you want the best possible image from your Nomad.
