We can only hope that a developer kept a build around and that he or she will leak it someday. It didn't get very far in development so I imagine it won't be very useful (playable) in any case. It's also very clear to anyone who even casually follows the Arcade PC Hardware scene that the Ring hardware has very good security by most standards, especially compared to other PC-based hardware, notably Taito and Konami (which have laughable security and are broken very easily). Excellent thread, lads. Lots of great information here and it's good to know we have many technically-inclined members of the scene to preserve this stuff.
From what I've heard (by people who personnaly know Jin8, one of the best japanese TGm players who is now actually working for arika) the game was actually almost finished, and it was demonstrated in a japanese arcade show (TGS or stuff like that) with Jin8 playing two modes of the game and Mihara and other staff being really nervous about people making videos, not willing to see the game mechanics cloned in games such as Heboris or Texmaster.
Many thanks soyandroid for great pictures (nice quality) of SEGA Ringedge system. Thanks to you and Jackalus we have great topic on forum (definitely both of you know this stuff). One more thing: Would you be so kind and made similar photo session of one of your SEGA Ringwide system? Maybe even in this topic. You could discuss the differences (beside performance) between these two systems. Best Regards to all of you.
woh nice topic, congratulations i have few questions: i see a free slot for the ram, can you upgrade with more ram? ring edge 2 can read ring edge 1 games? and where can i buy ring edge 1 and ring edge 2 arcade hardware?
I have a question, will the Ringedge play Daytona USA 2 because its a PC hardware and can handle emulators?
Daytona USA 2 isn't a ringedge system. You could chuck an emulator on it just like you could chuck an emulator on any kind of PC, can't really see the point though.
It could in theory, but why would you bother with this? Simply run the game on a standard PC with an emulator. FYI Daytona 2 runs on Model 3, which is not PC-based hardware.
I already made a multiboot for RingWide/RingEdge, it works great. For my personal home use. Will post video later.
hi jackalus multiboot on official hardware or regular pc? also tried to view your Lindbergh video but did you remove it or youtube did? thanks
