It's not that hard to learn and remember where 4 symbols (from top to bottom it's Triangle (Green), Square (Purple), Circle (Red) and X (Blue) )are on the joypad. Granted the PS pad is crap for things like shooters but with a ton of Joysticks to choose from.... The Saturn pad is however a maspiece of engineering and probably the best designed 2D pad there is.
word! the Saturn pad is silky good when it comes to 2D, despite its cheap plastics and apparent lack of weight (especially the second more dounded design, the shoulder buttons were a bit of a let-down, but stil clicked right!) I also love the nights 3D pad, although I don't own one
I was just going to explain that: I wanted to be original.........so I bought some blow and hired a couple prostitutes to party with my Saturn:dance: What I was supposed to do? play games? J/k aside, I played VirtualON entirely, both in easy, medium and hard. Best.Game.Ever, I may buy a PS2 just to play the remake, does anyone knows if it has Saturn-like controls?
well if u get the virtual sticks it does. plus, the PS2 controller has two knobs for you to rub against.
You would be mistaken. I was saving up for a Saturn prior to its release and snatched one up as soon as I could find one for Panzer Dragoon alone. Even as a kid, I cared more about creative games and solid gameplay than I did about graphics. And honestly, once the PS came out I felt everything on it was horribly generic. I was going to buy one once FFVII came out (since I was a huge Square fanboy at the time), but I was so disgusted by FFVII when it did come out I just wrote off the Playstation and stuck with the Saturn. Have never and will never regret that decision, because to me, the Saturn is still home to the best games ever made. And see, even 13 years later I still have my Saturn hooked up, despite the only other consoles hooked up being next-gen stuff. I tote half of my Saturn collection around with me because once I start playing Saturn, thats generally all I'll be playing for that month. I've seen most everything the Saturn has to offer and I am yet to see any system library that can even begin to compare. I mean honestly, I spend more time with my Saturn than I do with my Xbox360, and I love the 360. But even though I've been playing the same Saturn games for years now, they never get old. Edit: And the Saturn has all the Parodius games too. ^_^ Though if you want to throw down the 2D gauntlet, fine: Astal. The end.
I agree with jp. the Saturn wasnt lame during its heyday. Back then people I know saw the PSX like it was the 3DO: pretty cool but doesnt stands a chance against SEGA and Nintendo. We were wrong, but hey after 2 failed attempts by similar brands to enter the console market (Phillips and Panasonic) betting your money on Sony looked like a bad move. And RR: yeah it looked better than Daytona, but on the other hand, who the fuck played RR back then?. Unless you were a bubble boy and couldnt go to the arcade you know that back in 1995 there was always a line to play Daytona, while in my entire life I have ever seen people waiting to play RR. Funny to hear others who rant about how graphics-centric this nextgen is say that PSX RR was better because of the graphics. Daytona had far better gameplay and control. Control, it had by far the best handling of the entire generation IMO, much more precise than even SegaRally, GT or CCE. But you own a PS2, amirite?
Nope. No interest in or need for it. I had an Xbox and a Gamecube at the time, but none of them compared to the Dreamcast (which doesn't compare to the Saturn), so I sold all that stuff for some more Saturn games. :110: Fun Fact: I actually did sell my modded Xbox for the funds to snag a sealed copy of Stellar Assault SS.
same here. playing Parrapa the rappa was a right pain in the arse because of those buttons. 3 top 3 bottom is the way to go but it looks like that stopped with the Saturn :crying: Yakumo
That's the game that helped me learn the controller. After beating the game with "cool" on every level and locked up the extra stuff I knew where every button was
