I've just recieved the EMS action replay 4M Plus but when I plug it into my sega saturn and boot it it skips the saturn logo animation then goes to a "licenced by sega screen" and after a second or so goes back to the saturn logo in an infinite loop. I've tried reflashing it with Atlus, I've tried all Bios's (Biosi?) on the disc but non seem to work also, they don't show the device or vendor (but it's vendor code is 5345 and device code is 4741). I've read that the EMS cartridge doesn't accept Datel software and looking at the HEX of the Bios's they all seem to be from Datel.
I probably would have tried cleaning the cartridge slot before re-flashing the AR, do you have another cartridge you can test the slot with - a memory card or RAM expansion?
I cant test it with another cart as I have non. And cleaning the cart slot or the connector doesn't help. But I have noticed that a component is missing on D1, should that be the case.
I had similar problems, when I was using A+B modchip mode with Action Replay. Everything was resolved when I soldered signal wire. I am unsure, that you have same situation, but if you use A+B, it's worth a try.
Could someone check with their Action replay, if they have a 5 chip, that D1 is suppose to be missing and possibly with what it could be replaced if that is the case?
Mine has different layout, here's photo: However D1 looks like ordinary diod, you can try to install it on your board.
I fixed it, and there is a design flaw in it (the diode is place right under a pillar in keep the board in place and the connection isn't that well soldered). So I've cut off that pillar and placed a diode from a faulty gameboy sound board. Now it seems to work, but I've yet to check the ram's and memory.
