((( First post, hope this isn't a repeat topic. Be gentle if it is. )))

The backup battery in my Sega Saturn has kicked the bucket. I've been considering pick up a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga off of eBay and am fully prepared to pay the price for the game.

    It's worth it, for sure.

What I don't want to happen is playing through the game without the ability to save my progress. I probably should pick up a save cart as well, but I don't play my Saturn much any more and don't see the need in it. I suppose if I get Burning Rangers I should, but oh well.

My question to you, this thread's reader, is what type of battery does the Sega Saturn take and can I find it in my local watch and jewelery store?

Also, Panzer Dragoon Saga is civilization. ;-)

I don't know the exact type of battery. I just took mine up to Wal-Mart and they got me a new one (about $3-5).

    Sounds good to me.

    Thank you.

  4. It's a CR2032. Very easy to find.

Keep in mind that if you change the battery, you'll lose all your internal saves unless you do it with the Saturn's power on.

If you're getting Panzer Dragoon Saga and have even just a couple other games you want to keep saves for, you might as well get a backup cart because that Panzer Saga save is huge.

You should also get this type of battery in a computer store. CR 2032 batteries were also used on mainboards to save Bios settings.

I second getting a backup unit. That thing has saved me a lot of problems.

Have fun with Saga! It's one of my favorites. ^_^

That battery is common as dirt. My car keyfob's use them, a couple of my specialized remotes use them, hell I have about 10 arcade boards behind me that use them too. You'd think that they would have changed the battery usage after a decade.
