Not a console but console related and could be pretty rare, so I thought I'd share info about it with you lot.

Dunno how rare these are in and outside Australia, but I've only seen them occasionally instores during the Saturn's era and the only time I've seen them since then is the one I own.

Won this one of a collector who lived near Sydney through eBay, cost me around $150AUD. The seller originally aquired it along with a Dreamcast demo stand from a store (nfi if it was a retail store or indy game store) to use in a retro game store he and a mate were going to start up, but never got around to doing so.

It's about 2.5m high, 1.1-2 wide and about the same going back at the base. It has 4 lights (1 bulb 3 fluro) which light up the logos and help highlight the console through the cage shield. It's anooying lighting this thing up as each light has it own power cord, requiring the need of a switch board.

Becasue the ends of the stands arms are designed to hold the controllers like a 2nd skin to prevent theft, only 1 of the 2 controller designs are compatible (no MD kind). It can also accept anything of up to a 68CM tellie, for 38-51 cam tellies there are 2 plastic shield with stick to the sides, to hide the gape betwwen the tellie and the stand walls.

Did I mention this thing is incredibly heavy? It has no weels to move around on, so it's backbreaking labour to move it around (easily weighs an odd 50kilos, IMO).

Thats all for now, this is the pic of it from the auction. I'll post some more later of it close up, and different angles, and when it's lit p in the dark.... As soon as I can borrow a mates digital cam.

Hmm, the GameBoy stand in the UK for original GB was actually quite bulky... V shaped with a GB either side, linked to play (usually) tetris. :)

    mmm, saturn stand......
