Anyone know how this works? I was able to finally pick one up, but with no box or (more importantly) instructions. I load it up w/ the FDD Operator, and all it does is take me to the Save Data Admin page. I can choose between the Saturn's internal save data, or the back up cartridge. The CD will not run if I take the Cartridge out. Any ideas? I know dj98 has one of these -- hopefully he can shed some light. EDIT: I got it to work -- gotta use the pad to select where you want to copy to and from. Now if I can just figure out a way to get a PC to read the floppy discs, I'd be in heaven!
. sadly haven't had time to play with all the toys I have since baby is taking all my free time... oh well:Hangman: cheers
I assume you're using Windows, try creating an image using RawWrite and put it somewhere others can download it.
I don't think it will work. I already tried that. I think it formats the floppy to 2.88, so a 1.44 PC drive can't read it Anyway, I can help you in using the software, I wrote a FAQ (in portuguese) about it sometime ago. Just let me know if you have any question. PD
Well, I got it to work (I found a Japanese FAQ... a pretty good one as well). It formats it, but it only uses 2HD floppies, so I'm sure there's gotta be SOME WAY a Windows OS can read it, but who knows. You seem to have tried that already, unfortunately. dj98 -- sort that damn baby out and make yourself usefull!!
well, I'm sure that with a bit of searching you can find a 2.88mb disk drive - I had one somewhere but I lost it years ago :Hangman: I think nowadays PCs still support em, have a look in your CMOS setup.
. I remember that! They used to be plentiful years ago although haven't seen it lately. Another item to add to the flea market check list. You tell that to my wife and I will give you one of my rare items if you come out alive... ;p cheers
That would be olne possibility. I hate being the guinnea pigt thogh, especially since I dont' know much about this particular piece of hardware.
. it's not much of use unless you have the game construction title - forgot what it's called. You can use it with few other titles and that's about it. Only reason I have is I wanted to complete the Saturn setup I saw in magazine years ago where Sega showed Saturn with modem, keyboard, FDD and printer. They tried to push Saturn as other than gaming console which was big ask IMHO. now all I need is big enough room and large enough showcase to display all the junk(?) I've collected over the years. First one though on to do list is custom built shelf for all the titles - missus said no more bookcase since we have literally one in each room filled with titles and DVD. cheers
My Mrs. lets me do whatever w/ my room.... there's fuck all in the other rooms, and that's the way it'll stay. I think the FDD will come in handy for one thing, and one thing only. I've got multiple carts, and for some stupid reason, have a lot of data scattered out across four of them. I can finally put them all on one cart and be done w/ the others!
