    Hello all.

I am guessing this game is pretty rare, being a Japanese exclusive port of the PC game Phantasmagoria. Can anyone verify the rarity of this and what one could expect to pay for a complete copy?

    Thanks in advance.

Verify what? If it's rare or if it's a port?
It is a Saturn version os Phantasmagoria.
We've discussed about it here a year or more ago.
About the price, check eBay. I've seen a couple, but don't remember the prices...

Yes - I was checking on its rarity/availability (which I think I clearly indicated in my initial post). Search did not return any significant results (I checked prior to creating this thread) - if I am wrong please point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the tip on checking eBay for pricing - I didn't think of that ;-)

Nah, it's not that clear. It can be my engrish, though.
But "being a japanese exclusive port" don't means it's rare. There's a lot of japanese exlusive pc ports for Saturn.
There's really no right way to know the price of these games. People put the prices they want, and anyone will say the price he/she saw or bought/sold.
If it's not in ebay try next week.
Also, if you really want a list (based on ebay observations in a random period of time), in setakore the rarity and price rating are both low.

Thanks for the info on Satakore - seems like a great site from the couple of minutes I spent perusing it. There is a great picture of the entire set of the entire set as well!

I also cleaned up my initial post - thanks for the heads up on the lack of clarity on my part.

I bought a used copy for 2000 yen in Japan in 2007. According to YAJ, that's still the going rate. The game is not really rare, but it can be a hassle to find one with a well conditioned cardboard box that is NOT suntan. 90% of the copies I've seen were pretty blue'ish on the spine.

I guess between 15 and 30$ is an ok price depending on the condition. It's definitely a nice collector's item because it is one of the fattest box-sets there are - wider than KoF Best Collection and probably as wide as YUNO or MiniSkirt Police. Just put 2 double CD-cases next to each other and you get the idea. :)

Yes, Phantasm on the Saturn can be a pain to find as ave said but it's not supper rare. I'd say it's on par with Prisoner of Ice for rarity. I have two copies of this 4 disc game. One which is bashed to hell and a nice mint copy. The one on my site (www.segagagadomain.com) is the based to hell copy so I really need to update my scan to the mint one I have.

As for price, well for a tatty one you'll be looking at around 1000 yen to 1500 yen but for a mint one around 2500 yen upwards.

PS: you do know that it's all in Japanese?

It would be cool to grab a nice copy to the the girth of that set. I was aware that it had been translated into Japanese - I have the PC version of it and was looking at maybe getting the Saturn version for collecting purposes. Thanks for the great feedback all - it is appreciated.

Cool. I'll have to check it out someday anyway. What exactly is it, an FMV adventure? Do I have to choose paths and read text or just play Dragon's Lair/Road Blaster style and cope with the Japanese audio?

I was actually hoping for a scary/trashy interactive horror movie, although it didn't really matter as I simply needed it for the collection and the nice big box.

You're still talking about this game, aka Phantasmagoria, right? It's an adventure game made by Sierra, like the newer King's Quests or whatever, only with FMV. It's also pretty crappy (nowhere near as bad as the PC sequel, though!). The Internet has plenty of info on Phantasmagoria, if you're interested in what the game is like.

I just wish that the 7th Guest port would surface. Aparently it was near completion when it was canceled. I have a video if the Saturn port somewhere.
