Maybe this subject has turned up somewhere but I have noticed only recentely that, like some PSX isos, there were cd images of games for the Saturn identified the same way, i. e. [V1.002], [V1.003], etc Upon browsing the updated Saturn rom set at french site planetemu, I realized some images of games like Street Fighter Zero, Virtua Cop 2, Dead or Alive have more than one version. Usually it's the larger sets (over 1 Gbyte). Anyone knows if there are more games like that? And what alterations were made/bugs fixed?
Why would a Saturn game be over 1gb in size? They came on standard CD ROMs which only hold 700gb. Sounds very odd unless these large sized sets are for multi disc games.
I think he means different versions are compressed together. If the compressor isn't in solid mode, or if some flags aren't properly set, that could save minimal space compared to individual archives.
Indeed some are just that, but others are not. Yes, that's the case. Look, for example, Dead or Alive has version V1.001 and V1.002. "taille 1.08 Gigaoctet" means total size 1.08 Gb and it contains 3 discs images (clone cd format) of different versions. Of course it's the same game, I just didn't know there were these variations.
The PAL version of Croc has at least two versions, the 1st print had a bug where Croc would appear without a head on first boot, playing the game by booting the system and then resetting solved this problem. The 2nd print didn't have this problem.
