I tried to make an external LPF to address the Saturn jailbars issue. The external LPF is done using a THS7314 amp and feeding the individual RGB pins from the scart cable through voltage dividers. I got the idea from these posts here

I adjusted the R1-R3 values from the schematic to 330 ohms and R4-R6 to 470 ohms. It does successfully remove the jail bars, and looks great for darker games like Panzer Dragon II, but for brighter games like Street Fighter Alpha 2 or X-Men vs Street Fighter, the colors appear over saturated and too dark in the more brightly colored screens. It seems like screens that look OK can fluctuate rapidly between too dark/over saturated or perfectly fine on the quickly transitioning moments. I’ve tried adjusting the resistor values further, but I can’t seem to find the right combination of resistors. My understanding is that scart signals are 1.2 volts, so I figured with these values the scart signals being fed into the THS7314 should be approximately 0.7 volts just as the amp expects. I’ve included screenshots below.

I would like to fix this issue, but because I am not an engineer or anything I don’t really know what I’m doing. Is it possible to fix this with my external LPF? Or does the Saturn need to be modded internally with an RGB bypass. Further more as anyone attempted to create an RGB bypass for the Saturn? Current google searches only produce results for the Genesis.

Screenshots captured via a XRGB Mini Framemeister and an Elgato Game Capture HD.
