Sega Saturn mod chip questions.

I'm just starting out in modding and I have an extra Sega Saturn that I'd like to deck out as much as I can. What's the best mod chip to go with? Are there any other mods that might be useful (or just plain awesome)?

My brother knows circuits and electrical so he'll be able to handle most anything I throw at him as long as it's just assembling. He's not a gamer but he can help me if somethings not for beginners or is over my head.

 

You'll need to figure out which model of Saturn you have, as this will affect which modchip you can use and how easy installation will be. If you want to play import games and your brother is a competent solderer you might also consider a region-free bios mod, along with some kind of 50/60hz switch for PAL/NTSC games. Depending on the display you plan to use, adding S-Video and phono ports to the back of the unit may also be something you will want to do.

If you want a quick model ID, post pics of the console here, ideally including a picture of the machine with the top casing removed.
