So I bought a new laser and put into my Sega Saturn Model 2 PAL. But the Disc is now only spinning 1 time and then stops. The laser makes clicky sound and then just stops.
This thread doesn't seem to belong in this forum. You may want to ask a moderator to move it. Anyway, some laser replacements come with an anti-static solder point, does your has it? is this a new from a reliable source laser?
Are you sure it's the laser making the clicking noise? If you push the laser all the way out then press the door switch, does it move all the way back to center easily? Seconding the possibility of the new laser being dead. When I need to order "new" lasers for older stuff, I usually order 3 for each 1 I need because the other 2 will be dead out of the box and need sent back.
squeept , are you the same squeept that used to have a store on ebay ?. You may remember me DEAN from Australia i used to buy parts for consoles a lot from you
Heya! Yeah, I remember you. I'm still selling, I just don't ship internationally anymore. I'll make an exception if there's anything you need.
holy shit , i fondly remember at times our transactions and the gifts you gave me which i still have. Good memories , your a top bloke. I just checked around ebay and found your store again , the links i had were dead so i thought you closed shop. you never know i might buzz you in the future thanks for the offer squeept's store on ebay people , great guy and has awesome stuff http://stores.ebay.com/Squeept-Video-Games
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00N7IC7WQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 looks legit They cost 20 bucks thats too expensive buying a lot of them. Yes it moves in the center then spins one time and makes a clicking sound a while and then stops, i use tape all the time so the console thinks its the tray is closed down. I am pretty sure the laser is working there is something else, maybe the pod on the laser PCB is set wrong. But it doesnt matter what i am setting i cant get it to run.
It's more the price that will make it legit (assuming the seller isn't reselling cheap ones for profit) than how it looks - even a cheap copy looks the same. If you're buying from a reputable seller, contact them and see if they'll swap it over... I would imagine new products require this by law in most territories, although it's hard with spare parts where you could realistically have done something wrong. Different if you're a trained engineer buying from wholesalers and going by the service manual, of course. That said, a trained engineer would be adjusting the new pickup's focus and tracking with the test CD and an oscilloscope. Disc not spinning suggests it can't focus. Clicking suggests it's trying to focus but can't. You've got a focus issue
