Been looking to add a Saturn to my collection. I found this kid selling me one modded where he removed the battery and added a RCA Cable mod ... how valuable is the battery ? see the pictures below ... i welcome all feed back ... total price for the unit with shipping $30 comes with a controller

The only real issue is being unable to save data.
Though a mono composite mod on a console capable of up to stereo RGB, is nothing to be excited over.

Has the door been glued shut? If not you could still get to the battery...maybe. Has a socket fallen off as it has a mystery hole.

I don't see why he's removed the battery, it's integral to the system. If you don't have a cartridge to save to you'll be unable to keep anything after it's powered off. Also you'll have to exit the date and time / language screen every time it's turned on, and believe me it's annoying (my battery needs replacing now so it's happening to me).

I'd find out if he's removed the battery or the whole battery compartment (there's no reason for him to do that!), if you can get that panel off you can just pop another in. If you can't it's a deal breaker - or would be for me.

On top of that he's added in a redundant mod, using a Saturn in composite is an insult really. That system needs s-video or preferably RGB SCART where possible! So he's mutilated the console fitting a mod to display through an inferior connector.

I understand he may not have been able to get a composite cable and only had a composite connector on his TV but.......Yuck...

I'd say that's the right call, that console looks like it would be more of a headache than anything else.

Shitty positioning of the jacks and no stereo audio, I'd hate to see what the insides are like.
