    Hi all,

Well i got my saturn bios chips today(thanks Bad_Ad84), just tried to install one and all i get is a black screen :crying:

Thought maybe first time was a bad install, so checked all the pins, added a bit more solder and still a black screen!

I'm getting a signal on my tv(switches to av) and if i put a game in the drive it sounds like its loading?!?

I've attached some pictures of the bios install...

I did have switches installed for region and Hz, all worked fine then.

I'm going to try and install the original bios to see if i can get the saturn to boot again.

Double check every solder joint with something that can detect shorts. Probably have one or two not solid enough.

Unfortunately my multimeter died a while back, i've yet to replace it!

Well i got the bios chip off to replace the original, but lifted some trace pads :banghead:

I can see where the pads on the left go, but does anyone know where the trace for pad 39 goes?

I'd best continue my repair some other time, work in a few hours :dammit:

It likely leads to the chip on thr far right (that is barely in the picture).

I will check when I get home.

Or you can send it to me and I will fit + repair it for a reasonable price.

    Thanks Bad_Ad84...

Yeah it looks like it goes under the chip to the right.

Could the "© SEGA ENTERPRISES, LTD. 1994,1995 Ver. 1.01" be replaced easily?

To something like "THIS IS COOL", "You must play the SegaSaturn every day" or "Konsolkongen WTF Ver. 0.1"? I wouldn't mind paying extra for something like that... :love2:

Why would you want the "© SEGA ENTERPRISES, LTD. 1994,1995 Ver. 1.01" replaced?
This is the best looking bios ever!

I had a quick look in the bios for that string - there is no direct match. its possible its part of an image, rather than text. this would make it harder to replace.

Here is a picture of a chip i fitted in a JAP VA15 Motherboard. I also fitted one in a VA9 PAL Motherboard. (Looks exactly the same) I think it looks ok. Hard to get a clear picture. The fun part was that none of the boards had glue under the chip! Making this modd easier!

Can easily be done. Best I can tell the compatibility is at or near 100%.

I guess they just want to keep the boot animation that is specific to those model.
