Hi guys from assemblergames.com ! I've a problem with my PAL sega saturn (VA-7 motherboard). Today I decided to take it apart and make some minor adjustments . First, I made the second disk access LED ( fully functional ) Later I decided to replace the switch laser with a small button , so you do a swap correctly . So far so good , but sometimes my saturn sometimes boot up correctly and then when I leave it to rest 5-6 minutes , the screen no longer appears (the laser works but do not go ahead with the disk , in a few words idles ) . It's a random thing, so . What could it be? Thanks in advance guys and sorry for my poor English .
Solved ! The problem was a capacitor on the motherboard near to the VDP1 (10uf 16v). Replace with a new capacitor, the machine work correctly and without no problem!
I used this trick : On the chassis of the SS, i used the PSU and the motherboard. So, i used the soldering iron to heat the capacitor (280C° for 7 seconds ). I heated a capacitor at a time and then turn on the console. if the work was faulty capacitor, otherwise I had to move on
Okay some update : Always in this SS, i modfied the lid switch for swap trick. I have two backups : - Daytona USA (E), working perfectly - Sega Rally Championship PLUS (J), working perfectly - Street Fighter Zero 3 (J) , not working ....the swap going me into the menù. I'm not very expert about Sega accessories or trick....but i watched something on internet and...this game have some special protection? (like libcrypt for the PS)?
why do you use the swap trick? Gameshark or Action Replay with pseudo saturn would be a bit better too much abuse on the laser assembly and you need a RAM cart for street fighter zero 3 it's not protection. do you have a 4mb ram cart?
Hi skyway Thank you for you answer. Ah....nope, at this moment i haven't a RAM catridge. But I'll take it on ebay Meanwhile I bought Enemy Zero in Japanese , being a fun title and I wanted to recover on the Saturn . So SFZ3 not work without the expansion RAM ?
yes needs RAM, best thing to buy is 4in-1 action replay, has expansion built in. also buy a mod-chip for copies! don't kill your cd assembly!
Obviously the chip is much better, but the swap is not too bad . I do swap with the greatest care and precision . And the Mabuchi Motors are the best !
No druid , the console would not start at all. But just departed was working perfectly . With the replacement of the condenser now I do not give me more trouble and always starts ! So it's working perfectly , just do not understand why the swap with Street Fighter Zero 3 is not working . Me back in the console menu . Maybe it's because of the RAM .
Maybe I did not explain myself properly , druid . Forgive me. No, my console is doesn't boot at all, in fact I turned off and I turned on all the time until it appeared the boot screen . For your SS, maybe your power supply is unstable or there will be some capacitor to replace. It will be something out of nothing . You should make a video , to understand the situation better ^^ . I'll try to searching on web and how I can help you !
You need to change the region of the Iso it's kicking it back because you don't have universal bios, change the image region code to pal, then reburn the disc. If you don't change the region it will say exactly what the video showed. change iso to Pal from JAP and it will show an image in blue with japanese text.
