Isn't that the fault of the monitor, though? If the XRGB works with SOME monitors, you can't say it doesn't work with them AT ALL ;-)

Why would they put DVI on the XRGB-3 if it can't work with monitors?

Native refresh rate for a TFT is 60hz so I don't see the problem being there. Could it be that the resolution isn't supported? The XRGB-3 does several resolutions. Maybe you need this one, Yakumo?

For anyone who's interested (and fluent in Japanese!):

Incidentally, they seem to have confirmed a problem with the Mitsubishi LCD-32H8000X television - maybe it's just Mitsubishi?

There's this thing from Hori, too:

No idea on quality, but judging by the price....

Incidentally, for those complaining about the price, you're talking about upscanning 15kHz to 31kHz. The Dreamcast had native support, Saturn does not. If you're not considering shelling out on this project, forget it! And XRGB is the best of the best ;-)

The Hori box is shit. That will work on this TFT but the image quality is awful. Bleeding colours, blurred image and it goes off and on with games that change resolution from screen to screen like many Saturn games do.

As for the XRGB not working on Mitsubishi TFTs well that's just the same problem that the RGB to VGA boxes by the British company that had a link posted on the previous page. Their boxes have problems on some makes of Plasma TVs and state that they won't even work on PC monitors. I'm no tech nut so I don't know why XRGB will work on some brands but not others. By checking the actual page you'll find that the XRGB2+ doesn't work on the following monitors.

    Samsung
    Sharp LL-T1530A
    NEC LCD1880SX
    Mitsubishi RDT171M (Only sometimes works) & RDT184H (Mine's RDT17IIVM-E1)
    Sony SDM-M51

as well as others. Here's the link for anyone thinking of buying one - http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/xrgb-2plus.htm

Is it possible that the XRGB-3 fixed the problem? That said, they're all flashable, aren't they? Surely if they fixed it, they'd release new firmware? Hmm.

I don't think the XRGB2; is flashable or at least I can't notice where you'd connect it to get it flashed. It is possible that the XRGB3 did fix the TFT sync issue but I'm not sure. I'll take a look at the official site to check.

    Yeah, I think you're right....

That says the firmware update is a new feature in the XRGB-3, right?

Did you find anything to say that the sync issue isn't there on the XRGB-3? Incidentally, am I right in thinking that the XRGB2-plus didn't have DVI?

Yes, it basically says an updated frame ware fixes any problems that may be present.

Nah, I didn't look at the site, went to bed pretty early last night and today I've been out all day to my new house to sort out the construction of the car park. Pain in the arse the Japanese are. Why can't they say anything straight

You are right about the XRGB2+ having no DVI out.

Yakumo's already confirmed it, but really there's no way that could be anything other than cheap crap. Chances are not significantly better than whatever's in your HDTV.

Yeah from the price I guessed it would be.... hori-ble

    Heh, sorry! :110:

I've got the service manual for my Samsung LCD TV. OK, it isn't a dedicated monitor, but it talks about VGA modes. I won't bore you with all the details of all the modes, but it says:

Perhaps the XRGB-2plus wasn't using a mode that the monitor supported?
