Sitting in my garage I have a Scud Race/Super GT stand-up cabinet. Just got it this weekend and have been spending all my time cleaning and repairing it. It all works great except there is no feedback on the steering and the drive board in the back has: Er-02 flashing on it. I checked with the manual here: http://www.sauservice.com/manuals/Super GT/Super GT Twin/SG25.html I reseated the rom chip and reset the dip-switch settings to the recommended ones. Still getting Er-02. Anyone else fixed problems like this , or now where I can get a 838-12898 drive board/rom from? I ordered a new rom chip from Andy Geezer Services. Only £3 so its worth a try.
See if this helps: http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4285&sid=f715b3a5471bf7ed99a8525c973c73fb
Unfortunately, this is not that uncommon on the Scud Race chipset. Check the edge connector for corrosion and look for bad solder joints on the board.
I've ordered a working replacement drive board from ebay this weekend. Its from a Sega Rally 2 machine but I can use my new eprom chip on it. That should move things on a bit. At least onto things like the servo/clutch board or the motor, all have a different error code in the manual. But fingers crossed it might do the job.
The new drive board fixed it. All the other parts work fine as well. It feels like a new game after I've been playing with no feedback. I might try to find a spare drive board just in case.
gratz mate, i have a load of model 3 stuff, that i swap and change all the time. Unfortunately its getting to the age where model 3 is becoming flakey, and people are charging a fortune for replacement items. Saying that i did swap a sega I/O for a Model 3 CPU and it arrived in its gage with the VF3 rom board still on it , but i am looking to change it all and refit my Gunblade Cab with LA Machineguns . Scud Race is an awesome game, glad you have it working again!
I have been playing it for days now and its still great. such a good game with sweet drift controls. I don't ever remember playing a driving game in the arcades that had working ffb, most were regularly vandalised near to where I lived, or were setup wrong.
i got scud race machine aswell, well, its a twin model3 racing cab and i have to say that scud race is a really good game, i also got daytona usa 2 power edition that has even better force feedback, those were segas golden days
