Police search Sega headquarters over death at amusement park Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 11:05 JST TOKYO — Police searched the Tokyo headquarters of game maker Sega Corp. on Thursday in connection with a man's death from an accidental fall at a Tokyo amusement park, police sources said. Sega is suspected of professional negligence resulting in death as wheelchair-bound Junichi Tsubouchi, 30, died Monday after falling from a ride simulating a sky dive at the Joypolis amusement park, which Sega operates. The police have been questioning staff at Joypolis on suspicion of professional negligence resulting in death because they were aware that Tsubouchi was taking the ride without wearing a safety belt. I saw this on the japanese news last night. As always the western press blow everything out of proportion. What it basically boils down to is some student that Sega employed didn't do their job correctly which resulted in this terrible accident. The Japanese news never once said that Sega is suspected of professional negligence. but I guess if you have at least one idiot that works for you then fucks it all up then the big boys are going to get the finger pointed at them. Yakumo, I read on a coaster website (they tend to report this stuff even though its not a rollercoaster) that the ride op talked to his managers and they gave the ok for him to ride without the safety belt.
http://www.coasterbuzz.com/2005-109-93389.htm from a poster "According to at least one news article about this story, the operator called management and got permission to operate the ride without the safety belt. After all, it does have a shoulder bar, which was able to close........"
Yeah because I miss going to six flags back home. Its nice to find out what is going on back home in california theme parks. As well what is going on with this local theme park here in montreal (owned by six flags).
