Hi there, I'm using the PAL release of this game on a Model1 console with an official Memory Backup cartridge. There is still about 3500 blocks free on it, yet the game stubbornly refuses to save Ghost data on it. Every time I start the game I am greeted with the same warning screen telling me that it "Cannot save ghost data, do you wish to continue? Yes/No." Choosing No brings another screen telling me I need to free 942 blocks, then automatically brings me back to the CD player menu. The Memory cartridge is correctly detected by both the system and the game. I tried deleting my Touring Car saves and start anew. The game starts asking me if I want to save in the internal or cartridge memory, then proceeds to the exact same screen I have been describing before. I have only one Memory cartridge to test and I can't format it to test or something. too many worthy saves on it. I have had the game for quite some time, I never really played with it though. I don't think the Ghost saving ever worked though. Is it a known problem?
Because my console has a mod chip and a region switch, I tried using one of the image found on the internet. I used the (U) version of this game, and at boot it tells me that I can only save 3/5 ghost data. That's progress I guess but I don't know what it means exactly. [edit] I just created new ghost data with Daytona USA CE (J) a game I knew I never used the Time Attack mode and ghost function, having too much fun with the Arcade and crowded tracks. I know have only 3292 blocks left and Touring Car still gives me the same message. I'm clueless.
