Anyone knows or has seen one of these before? It says that prototypes had been made, so any chance a la 3do M2 consoles? EDIT: I didnt want to start another thread, but an interesting prototype of the Virtual Boy can be seen here:
I do recall Sega actually mentioning the VR system in one of their 1992 or 1993 commercials. I vaguely remember them showing a quick 4 second demo screen of some game on the VR system and it looked rather bad, with a good deal of choppiness. The VR was cancelled shortly after that.
I made a thread asking the same thing a while ago here: http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9153 There were rumours it got into production and then axed at the last minute, but I doubt that very much :x
"The immersion was so realistic that Sega feared children might run while using the headset and injure themselves." I'm sure.
They were afraid little kids would walk out into traffic while wearing it. Which sucks, becasue all they had to do was make it so you had to plug it in. The game featured in clockers was called "Gangsta," but all it looked like was a pre-rendered demo of a low poly drive by shooting.
