Has anyone here seen the new Seiken Densetsu 2 aka Secret of Mana remake for JP mobile phones? Click here to check it out. I'd love to find someone who can purchase it and send it over, the water looks amazing and the graphics that were redone don't look bad either. If someones played it I'd love to hear about it and if it's really worth hunting down.
Nothing that special graphical wise to be honest. There are many more advanved looking RPGs on Japanese phones but I'd love to get this one. It will NEVER work on a western phone though due to the format being completely different. All of our games are Java based, even the kick ass shooters and 3D games. They won't even work on a Japanese phone it wasn't downloaded to from the network. Pain in the arse really because on my older phone I have a few really cool games that I want to send to my current phone such as House of the Dead with motion sensor controlls 2 years BEFORE i-Phone! Actually, I wouldn't mind an i-phone to be honest  Yakumo
Yakumo-sama whether there are more advanced RPGs out on Japanese phones, then Seiken Densetsu 2 is still a classic I would love to play on my NOKIA 5800 . Since I really loved that game back when it was a SNES game. But Java based are not the worst form of games . After all, my former nokia phone could also use java based programs.
I don't understand why people buy these games for their phones. I can't think of a worse device to play games on than a fucking cell phone. The most spent developing these things would be better spent developing or porting the game to a real platform like DS or PSP.
Generally speaking I'm with you, but I think some games can work - they just need to fit and deal with the platform, i.e. shit screen, shit dev environment, and utterly shit controls. Doom RPG is a good example of a phone game that doesn't suck horribly. That said, most games released for mobiles seem to be real-time action games, ports of arcade classics etc, which is fucking daft. You wouldn't develop a text adventure for the 360, why would you port an arcade game to a mobile phone? I guess people must buy them, though.
You'd be amazed by how well some of these games sell, compared to how some of them would perform on a "real" platform. (Also, some games actually are pretty awesome. I actually found myself enjoying one of the Splinter Cell games that played like a stealthy Prince of Persia clone on my old Nokia phone. Gameplay was simple enough to work fine with the limitations of the dreadfull cellphone buttons too :lol Though, I would really like to see Seiken Densetsu 2 on DSiWare or something Indeed! A Secret of Mana remake on the DS with wireless single cart play would be fantastic.
