I am selling my scart to RGBS cable. I use this to connect Scart to my GBS 8220 scaler (gonbes/ ebay scaler) Its practically new. I bought this because I thought my scart was broke but instead realized my old scaler was a knock-off GBS 8220 and could not run 640i correctly. So I am selling this one for $40 shipped. If you have any questions please ask me. I will reply as fast as I can.
    Thank you

Is this just pure cabling or are there any parts inside the scart plug or something?

    $40?

Are they seriously that expensive over there? (scart I mean, as its common here)

Yes there is a a PCB that strips the since and convert the RGB Scart signal into RGBS for it to be upscaled but the GBS-8220 (not included).

I think you misunderstand this is more than an scart cable that takes the signal from the console to the output. There is a chipset inside too.

scart -> R G B and SYNC via a LM1881 in the cable (which is better placed on the PCB anyway, so you dont need power from the other connector - but for plug and play, I suppose its your only option) to a hd15 connector.

    I do not misunderstand anything.

Yeah that's pretty much what this cable is. I'm not a very technical person when it comes to these things.

All I was pretty much asking was, is that about the going rate over there (as I assume you bought the cable, probably for a similar amount as its little/unused).

I just didnt want to derail this into a price dispute or anything, I just know scart stuff seems to cost more that side of the world

It costs more due to the fact that we can't walk into a Radioshack and buy 5 for $1 like I can S-Video cables. $40 doesn't sound too bad for something universal like that.

Strip what? SCART is RGBS. Unless you mean you're converting composite video into composite sync - which is a bit excessive when you could just buy cables that support composite sync.

I mispelled. I meant to write sync instead of since. I am not changing it now for the sake of continuity but yeah it was mistake.
I understand your point as a person who can easily find scart and have TVs with scart inputs. I live in america and hook up RGB scart through a SCART2YUV converter or using this cable to a GBS-8220.

Its converting composite video to composite sync. But not all consoles have composite sync available on the AV connector. This cable is designed to be generic and not need custom cables.

Hes selling just the lead that takes scart and puts it into a GBS8220. Its not useful to you at all...

Could probably buy a GBS8220 and use the cable directly into it though.

Saturn VGA? I thought that was an unused mode only useful for specially made homebrew.

Its RGBS on a VGA connector.

I can put audio through a VGA (HD15) connector, it doesnt make it VGA.

Oh. I forget about non-standard RGB inputs. Usually associate that with Commodore after seeing the array of Amiga monitor versions.

    Item has been sold.
Yes Lum you can buy a cable that hooks up straight from the saturn to the GBS-8220. You will avoid getting an scart cable and a sync splitter.
