I agree with you to a certain extent. I guess its the person's different point of view on things and the person that does it. I can agree with you that the fact that they're charging 200 for the games itself that's outrageous they shouldnt be charging for the games. Nintendo i believe is a multi-million (or Billion) dollar corporation. I think they're are supported enough. im guessing about 90% of nintendo's consumers (im apart of that 90%) are supporting it enough plus more. its not gonna make them go bankrupt of anything like that. now i can understand if i was a game developer and someone sells my game through piracy ways it won't break me because i get paid a certain amount from nintendo anyways. ill have my house and bills paid and food in the fridge. Now if i were to see someone sell my game through that yeah sure id be mad, but i wouldn't want a family to go live down the sewer's because of it (a little exaggeration). As for music being sold for that amount... i dont think anyone would be stupid enough to buy that. I personally believe in karma so i wouldnt something like that to happen to me,Not that i condone piracy im a video game collector myself. If its not a family shop and its a stand alone person doing it to support his/her drug habits by all means go for it.

*EDIT* and also please don't take this offensively its just my personal view on this topic

You are making the false assumption that the customer would otherwise go out and 'buy' all 200 games. Statistically, most people who own a console only ever buy around five or six games during its lifespan. The big N isn't losing '200' game sales... More and more you sound like someone who works for FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) - No offense but think about what you're saying. Why on earth would you assume they would buy all 200 games?

As stated - everyone here agrees with you in principal (me in included) - but not in practice. Honestly, there are far more serious things to worry about in life. Let's say you did get the police knocking on their door - Meanwhile, someone is getting seriously hurt just down the road. Better yet, use those man hours to investigate serious crimes, or give themselves a better presence in the neighborhood by actually patrolling it. Closing down a mom and pop video store, especially in this day and age when they all seem to have disappeared, is not what I would call a good use of resources.

One final thought: Does it upset you that the person who bought that console can actually play test all 200 games and then make a decision about whether or not they want to buy any one of those games? I don't have a problem with that, and any fool knows that if you don't support the developer, they're not going to make any more games. That last part is called "common sense" - something you are assuming the customer does not have. I'm a firm believer in 'try before you buy' for one simple reason - most games are in fact shit - and good 'reviews' are very easily (and often) bought for cash by developers - The only way I'll know it's any good is if I play it first and yes, if I like it, I DO go out and buy it.... always have done.

200 wii games at the price they sell? i don't earn enough in an year :D

pricing on modern games should be fixed to an acceptable level (thinking about 20-max 30euro); THAT would really bash piracy...

    Totally agree with that.

Regardless with the topic, piracy is piracy selling something that isn't yours is the wrong thing to do, even that Nintendo are not making the money on ANYTHING in this sale. Which is what I'm TRYING to mention to you Arnold. Doesn't matter on the number or anything like that, I only used the number to support what I'm saying.

I agree that modern games are way too expensive, but I think at least part of that is licensing fees, after all, PC games are always cheaper than console ones... Still, I don't agree with profiting from other people's work.

Well, you pretty much undermined that point by saying that most people only buy like 5 games for a system. Do you really think an average person is going to go "These games are great, I'd better buy the legit versions to support the developers!" if they get 200 games for free? No, they're far more likely to just keep playing those 200 games for free.

Anyway, I'm done with this - If it makes you feel happy that you may have got those people arrested for a trivial offense that really won't affect Nintendo in the grand scheme of things.

    Well, that's your right.

I hate to sound rash, but I tend to highly agree with arnold on the subject, but my take has its own ideas.

This whole thing tends to veer towards an individual defending a giant money making corporation, and this has always struck a chord in me, as a very strange thing to do (and slightly despised)(also most noticeable with people defending Apple...*shudder*). Either that, or it boils to a mix of jealousy the "free" cash these individuals are making and supposedly taking away from Nintendo and the various developers. I use to have a narrow view on piracy, but it takes more thought than just the instant appraisal. Take for instance, human advertising.

Piracy has led to recommendations to me of games that I have never even heard of that I end up purchasing. As it has with me doing the same in return to others. It ends with sales that wouldn't have taken place otherwise. I am sure it is still harmful financially somehow to some companies, but overall, why would you care?

I rarely purchase games anymore without testing them to some extent, and if there is no demo then I test it anyway. $60 is honestly rarely worth it anymore, and the common argument is "Well it isn't your right to say what is worth it and not worth it when these Dev's spent all there time. . . ", blah blah ha, sorry, but I really don't have that money to waste. When a good game is found, then they deserve my money. & I don't keep the shitty games because, why would I? They suck and I don't have the time to waste on sucky games anymore.

I am a huge oldschool Nintendo lover, but the Wii is the worst they have done IMO (besides the obvious). The last game I bought due to friends pirating it and telling me about it was Mad World.

360 games and PS3 games don't do much better, so they usually aren't worth it either.

PC gaming is the final crusade (and it always has been amazing).

I am sorry, but gaming sucks nowadays. If that fact wasn't so glaringly obvious to most older generation gamers, then maybe they would be purchased more. I know there are still some outstanding titles, but come on. . .

Maybe not directly, but I would love to hear how you know that the second-hand effects of him owning those games contributes to 0 interest amongst his friends or peers.
