So I'm vaguely contemplating selling my 360. I hardly ever use it anymore. I haven't bought a new game for it in over a year.

It seems like all that comes out these days are bland, generic-looking shooters. I don't dislike FPS games in general: on the contrary, some of my favorite games ever are FPSes. But the newer ones (with the exception of Portal 2) just bore me to death.

I'm not really all that enticed by XBLA, either. I have most of the major consoles already, so if I want to play an old game it really makes more sense just to buy the original. Admittedly, Limbo and After Burner Climax were awesome, but there's not really much else on XBLA that interests me.

Moreover, I have a new PC that runs new games really well (better than their PS3 and 360 counterparts), and it seems like most new games that come out on 360 also come out on PC.

So why shouldn't I sell it? There is, of course, Dead or Alive 4. I love that game. However, I don't play it all that often. Also, if I sell my 360, I can always wait a few years, and by then there'll be new consoles and I can pick up a 360 for like $40 - if I decide I want one again.

So what do you guys think? At least of few of you probably have a good idea of my gaming tastes. Is there anything in the past, present, or future that might warrant me keeping my 360? Is there really any reason at all?

You're right. And I already have a PS3. I mainly use it for Blu-rays and Netflix, but there are games in the future that I want - namely the Ico and Shadow of Colossus Collection, and Uncharted 3.

But why do you say get a PS3? I don't know of many good Japanese games for it, and I remember someone saying that there aren't many good imports either. Is there something I've missed?

Hmm, but a Japanese 360 has all the lovely shooter as in real shooters, not FPS. I love my 360 and I don't own a crap load of FPS for it either. There's so much great stuff to be had. The latest great title is Sega Rally Online Arcade which plays just like Saturn Sega Rally. It's fantastic. It may look like Revo but feels nothing like it, looks better and includes the original Sega Rally desert and lake side tracks.! Just take a look at this video I made.

Being in the states I can se why all you notice are FPS. Americans (and Koreans come to think of it) love FPS games. In Japan, FPS games are not so big so most of the focus here is on classic shooters and arcade style games. Even our front end is more colourful than the western 360s.

Whoa... that looks pretty cool. Someone told me it wasn't very good, but that looks pretty cool to me. I'll have to give it a try.

And speaking of shooters, you know... I've very gradually come to the realization that I don't really like shmups all that much. I love the graphics - Radiant Silvergun, Cotton Boomerang, Thunder Force IV - they all have amazing graphics, but I just don't enjoy playing them all that much. I guess it's mainly because I'm not very good at them. But then again, I suck at fighting games too, but I love those.

I do like the kind of game where you're a little dude who walks around and shoots stuff, like Metal Slug or Vectorman or Contra (though I've never played Contra enough to have an opinion of it). I guess that's because those games don't require the same kind of twitchy reaction.

I do, of course, love pretty much every other kind of arcade style game, but then I thought the main reason for importing 360 games was for Cave shooters and the like. Are there other good arcade-style Japanese 360 games?

Yakumo, love that Sega Rally footage, any idea if it'll get a PS3 port? My 360 is banned so there's no chance of me playing the XBL version :(

I haven't had that much time to devote to games in the last months, but on the 360 I've mostly enjoyed Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mushihime-sama Futari and some other good games like Guwange on XBLA, plus I really liked the newest Need for Speed (and GT5 on PS3). I hate FPS games too, but there have still been great games for me to enjoy.

Yakumo: I tried Sega Rally Online Arcade pretty much only because of what you said (had the demo downloaded, but wasn't exactly excited to try it because it just looked like a rehash of Revo) and it really does play like Saturn Sega Rally. I was pleasantly surprised because I hated the floaty handling of Revo, but they seem to have gotten it right this time: in fact, I think this game may be based on Sega Rally 3 from the arcades, which also looks a lot like Revo. Classic mode is also much appreciated, even though the new music is pretty awful.

I have a PS3 and only ever play Wipeout. Also, the OP can't read Japanese, and doesn't want to learn how to read Japanese :p

XBOX has all the decent Jap exclusives IMHO.

Come to think of it, there are actually a lot of XBLA games I wanted to play but never got around to it.

I thought it was on the PS3 as well? I know it's not on the Japanese 360 store (Nothing ever is) so I bought it from the UK store thansk to some online points.

Yeah, it really is Saturn Sega Rally playability in a new game. Fantastic fun and you're right, it is based upon Sega Rally 3. You're also right about the turd music. God, it's not a patch on the original which is why I use the original's music.

There you go mate. No reason to sell your 360 after all. Honestly, there is an awful lot of great arcade games on there.

Hmm, hard to say because I have a lot of shooters on there. Best just to show you my 360 games list and mark off the ones I really like.

Bollocks, F*ing Microsoft being pricks again because I'm using Fire Fox. Time to boot up explorer.

    10 minutes later

OK, I like all of the games on this list but some are must have titles for me, so I'll mark them in red.

It all depends up on what you want. IMO, the PS3 store is nowhere near as good as what the 360 Market Place when it comes to great arcade gaming or classic games. As for PS3 games, well, none of the exclusives interest me such as KillZone and so on (360 Gears of War doesn't interest me either) and even now multiplatform games are either pretty close on each platform or better on the 360. It's all about what you want to play really.

A boatload of games are multiplatform now, I guess the only reason to keep it will be to play the system exclusives or original xbox games.

It should be worth keping for the Fable games and anything developed by Rare? *shrugs*

Make use of it before it RROD's IMO - even if you don't use it, unless you need the money you may as well keep it.

Anything developed by Rare? Has Rare made a good game since about 1999?

Apparently that Kinect Sports game they did is pretty good. I think that tells you all you need to know really.

When you said "it may look like Revo" I thought you meant "it might use the same graphics engine" or something. Just played it and now I know what you mean! Jesus, is there a single new art asset in that game? I actually found it really weird to play since it looks absolutely identical to Revo but handles very differently. The latter's probably a good thing but visually it really plays tricks on my brain. Good price at 800 points though.

BK Nuts & Bolts is generally pretty well liked by the people who got into it. I enjoyed the demo but never got around to the full game.

nuts and bolts would be a nice LEGO spin off of sorts, not much of a 3D platformer in the vain of the previous titles though.
