I'll be stopping in Singapore on my way to the UK for 8 hours and again on the way back for 14 hours. Do you guys think that there's anything extra special there that's worth picking up? Maybe that SNES clone that's all in black can be found there? Anyone have any ideas or better still, know of a good shop there.

I've never heard of a black SNES clone. Any pix? Wonder if its made by XGA. If you can somehow find Famicom pirate "originals" (games made by pirates) you can flog them on YJ at 10,000en a peice.

Well it's not really a SNES cloner but more like a system based on the SNES. it's called the Super A'Can. You can see a picture of it over at Hawanja's site http://hawanja.com/super_acan.htm I'm also after one of these officially made Sega Mega Drives for the asian market.

I've never seen one of these in Japan so I take it that they are only for other Asian markets.

Hey Yakumo, try to get some pics of some clone stuff while you're there, even if you don't buy much. That stuff has always interested me.

  9. That A'Can system looks damn cool. Now, if only there were some shmups....

But if you do happen to come across a GameFighter, one of those Gameboy clones, i'll have that off you.

The A'Can is Taiwanese, I don't think you can find one outside of Taiwan. Mark Cheung, (who maintains the official Asian Vanilla Ice fanclub XD) was the original seller, he sold the A'Can for around $600 with those games. The system is actually 100% original and quite interesting IMO. I used to be quite a frequent customer of his and almost bought the A'Can before someone offered him that huge sum.

Also, that Mega Drive is in no way official. Official "Asian" Mega Drives are identical to Japanese ones besides the fact that they are PAL and are wired for 50hz. There are many clones sporting the Sega logo.

I think you'll find that the Mega Drive is Official. Sega Started to re-make them in 2001 for the Asian market to get a foot in before Nintendo did with the I-Que. The idea was to produce a 16 bit system cheap enough to battle agianst the 8bit clones.

I'll be taking photos of anything I can find while I'm there too. And if cash isn't a problem I may buy a few :smt023

I'm extremely skeptical about that, is it manfuactured by a Chinese factory? The only people that Sega really licensed themselves to is Majesco. There are TONs of Sega Genesis 3 clones (the white one) all around, and now that MD clones can be produced in a similar fashion to FC clones, there has never been more of them.

Also that Mega Drive in the picture you posted before appears to have Korean writing on the box, its hard to make out though.
