Senjou no Valkyria: A current gen game I like

Yes, don't shit your pants. I actually bought a PS3, and like a game on it enough to write about it.
Review

Really fun shit. I assume an English version is in the works, but haven't followed. Anyways, enjoy.

 

English version is due out in the fall.

I'm really antisipating this game. It's depressing it did not sell overly well in japan (not a total bomb but not anything to write home about either).

FYI, for thoes who don't know. This game was done by some of the team who did Skies of Arcadia (even some of the SOA characters apear in this game).

 

i've seen pics and it really looked fun! finally. most of the games i've seen/played for ps3 were shit

 

Thanks for the review. I even read the first and last page completely.

The game looks nice but it still doesn't make me want to buy a PS3. I'd probably play it only for one hour and then get bored. Most likely not the game's fault though.

The last game where I enjoyed the characters was probably Grandia. Concentrating on the game mechanics only, is one solution but how great would it be if they could once also get the characterizations right.

 

I'll have to check it out when/if I get a PS3!

 

Mine would've been Shenmue. Don't get me wrong...the cheesy (sort of) story is in place, the game is just simply light on story, heavy on fighting. Great stuff, I highly recommend it. The genre generally has me bored to tears by 10 hours in, but the battle system is really that fun...although some battles are frustrating. I haven't quite gotten the balls to try the free battles on hard yet.

Those are my only two characters to have died. The staff roll was pretty long, but I didn't see Rie Kodama in there.

 

I just looked at some screens. Is it like Battalion wars?

 

More like a tactics style game.

Yeah, I read that somewhere. Another one of those dipshit things M$ did. This is definitely the best next-gen game available... at least to me. Note that I'm a jaded old man in gamer terms though.

 

And go figure Atlus releases Operation Darkness on the 360.

 

the sorta new style of cel shading looks fantastic! i watched a couple of the cutscenes and they look really nice imho.

Of the aforementioned, I think I could bet you some drugs and ass on MKII and maybe on Tekken , but you d need to spill out like 5 bucks for MKII, a real challenge considering the game isn't really worth more than 2 bucks in my view. But who am I to decide? I m retail meat.

Anyway, any propositions? I d gladly pinch your sphincter in MKII all said and done.

Yeah, that's the one. It looks mildly entertaining, but I'm not into a 3900 yen download. And Mario Kart is indeed the only reason I would get a Wii. It's not out of the question, but I just bought a Death Smiles kit, so that'll keep me busy for a while.

 

Fatal Inertia on 360 was....I dunno. It wasn't Mario Kart fun at least.

 

Get yourself Minna no Golf, I still have the Japanese version of you fancy a game online some time.

 

Pretty sure I would have to take up heavy marijuana smoking again to enjoy a golf video game. But who knows.
