Appears that it is coming to a home console...though not to the DC. http://www.xboxyde.com/gallery_2578_en.html
Yup - this has oddly been officially confirmed for ages. Though they have not showed us much yet, the screens thus far look preety damn good. Originally I hated the idea, because I wanted the quick fix DC version, but if they are going to totally revamp it graphically well it can only be a good thing. They claim they are going to fix some of the balance issues as well - that is, making certain people more powerful. The balance issues really stemmed from overly weak, rather than too strong characters (I think there is a difference) Anyway, I think this game is awesome. Any home version is a damn good thing IMO, at least I have my arcade stick ready to go. For those who don't know much about it, check out some of the match vids at tokyo ranking fighters. I managed to come in second at a tourney of this in a local thing in osaka, it is great to play competitively - I'm sure for those who can stand online games, it will be pretty cool on live. Anyone else think this game is wonderful?
By all accounts it is a wonderful game I just hope they get some deserved sales with this one and make it region free. Its pretty gutsy for a relatively small J developer to take onboard the license and dev fee's associated with the 360 while facing the non existant market the system has in Japan. I hope Microsoft are funding it in someway otherwise I think they might be facing some very nasty losses.
Yea, I've known about this for quite some time. While as disappointing initialy (it not comming to DC that is), the graphic update looks to be worth it, as the originals graphics were very simple. Im hoping it'll be region free or come to the states at some point, as I never did get to play it in the arcades but have wanted to play it in whatever form I can sense first seeing videos of it in action.
Yeah, indeed. Great news all around. With the upcoming Zoids game and now Senko (plus possibly the new Afterburner and HOTD games), I hope the 360 becomes the system of choice for more arcade-to-console translations. There's still a decent selection of Chihiro titles that could make for some great home gaming (ie: Quest of D and Sega Golf Tour)
I have a feeling that MS will have pushed to release this game, as I don't think they could afford to do it otherwise. MS has always pushed the Xbox = hardcore image in japan, in a rather covert way. So having a arcade title at such an early stage makes them look very good. Anyhoo the 360 Japanese line up does not look too bad at the moment. (just need more release dates) I'm glad I sneaked in and got one now - it was looking pretty bad after the launch. Just need to get EM cheap and I'll be sorted for my easter vacation. The good news is, if this game does leave Japan, it will be as an uber budget release. I have a feeling it will be sold below the usual 6800yen in japan, just like the updated Tetris arcade game.
Now I just hope its region free... or it gets a US release. I believe G.Rev posted on their site asking if people thought the game would sell well in the west. Would be awesome to see one of their titles over here. And besides, DC owners shouldn't feel too bad, they're getting the exclusive Under Defeat!
