Is it just me or have games today lost the sense of accomplishment you'd get when you beat them? I haven't felt like I really accomplished anything since the 16-bit days. These days you can rent a game for 2 days and usually beat it (unless it's an rpg).
finishing Rez in one day gave me a sense of accomplishment :smt033 And with the longer PC games (mostly first person shooters, dont really play those anymore) or space flightsims, those were great as they sometimes took me months to get through... and they had an interesting story too. Every time I finished one of those I needed some time to readjust and pick a new game to cut my teeth on
If I ever finish Ninja Gaiden I will proably have that sense of accomplishment. I think games for the most part have changed a lot since the 16-bit days. Shooters are meant to be replayed for high scores and unlocking, and action games have a bit of unlocking in them as well. RPGs on the other hand, are now very linear (and too long, IMHO). Kunoichi --- I got a warm fuzzy feeling when I beat it on normal. I think I shat myself when I beat it on hard (which was quite hard).
Finishing Gran Turismo 3. The game is extremely difficult and kinda boring on the start, when you have to struggle with weak cars. The game truly shines when difficult rises, but you have powerful cars. having to buy performance tests and test new setups make the game extremely addicting. GT3 is not the select car / select track / go race type of game. You need to be driver, mechanic... a full race team. plus there is the endurance races and formula 1 championship. Those are too damn hard to win, and very long races (some with 2 hours time, more or less). My stats on the game: Complete: 100% rayer: Prize Total: 12,566,800 Wins: 384 / Races: 528 = Win Ratio: 72% Cars Owned: 88 Total Mileage: 15495.3 miles Total Car Value: 53,095,650 Bonus Cars Acquired: 96 Trophies Acquired: 559 Of the F1 cars, i only don't have the F687/S. I still have to fight to get it It pisses me off, because it's the one i wanted on first place :axe: The F686/M for example i have 4. The F090/S, F094/H , F094/S and the F688/S, i have one of each. Anyway, i'm on Day 422 in the game, with 6,840,332 in my pocket and actually racing with the NISMO 400 R and the Altezza LM Race Car. Racing for fun. - Anyway, when i first finished Alex Kidd in Miracle World it was great. Remember the game is quite big and there wasn't any save feature. Great game. Finishing Wild Arms was awesome too. I plan to finish Grandia 2 and Kingdom Hearts this week ( only have classes on tuesday and 2 exams on wednesday ). thursday and friday will be dedicated to gaming!!! :smt040
There is a difference between a sense of acomplishment and a sense of frustration. ^_^ I think games like Gran Turismo can be very satisfying. I also felt a great sense of acomplishment when I raised a monster in Monster Rancher 3 that kicked the end bosses ass twice, and Armored Core 2, when I beat the arena mode.
uh when i finished my pokemon games *for gamecube long time ago* it aws the coolest feeling ever, having all the friggin pokemons with lv 100 is just so cool.... YES I LOVE POKEMON FOR GC EAT ME >_<
Record of Lodoss War for the DC. Started it 4 times...only beat it once, some 3 years after buying it.
