That's not a Set 4... I know because I had a Set 4, blew up, then sold it Though the Set 4 being referred to in the pic could be onscured by that blokes head/body... Originally only the PSU blew and could have been changed out, but when I mailed it to the buyer apparently the hard drive came loose and knocked off a few capacitors
Yeah, that was the only reason I assumed for it to be a Set 4. So, LeGIt, have any pics of yours before it blew?
Nope sorry pics were on a different PC which got formatted and is now used for Linux Fedora Core 4. It was nothing exciting though, pretty much a generic cheap PC ATX case with the custom ATX motherboard and a sort of breadboard connector for the PCI slots with an Sh2 Daughterboard on it. IIRC it had SI Electronics labels on it and a Set 4 sticker too for a case badge, as far as I can remember SI Electronics were used by Sega for their electronics prototyping etc....
huh???Set4 was available from '97? Please bear in mind that the "first" dc type hardware that was offcialy available to devs was the Set2.1 kit which was just a pvr card and shipped on April 1998...Even that early chip lacked lots of functionality that the final version would have... these pics display a full board with a cpu and possibly 2 (???) powervr chips? The only devs that have stated to have received a devkit before 1998 were the ones that worked on toy commander if i remember right... nice pics btw
Yeah pretty interesting! What's more interesting is that after swapping out the GD-ROM drive in my Katana, I saw that the date also read 1997. So maybe that was when most "Katana" hardware were being produced?
