So - having had plenty of experience with electronics and soldering... and finally having a range of irons etc. I am confortable using I am considering going into modding as a sideline... I now have plenty of time on my hands and experience with modding PS1, PS2 and Gamecube.... Just really looking for pros and cons - I am UK based with a good supply of chips... I program the PS1 chips myself onto high quality blank chips sourced from a well known electronics firm... I have ben using Modbo 5 and XenoGC "clones" without having had a bad chip yet.... Any hits for logistics - the post office isn't far away...but what about payments/labour rates etc? I'm open to any and all suggestions.... Lets hear your thoughts!
Can't really advise on prices or labor rates, all depends on many factors really, such as the service you're offering, your area, competition, whether people come to you directly or ship to you and much more. If there is one thing I learned in life, you want to be competitive enough to provide a good service whilst being able to make your time and work sustainable enough. As for shipping, I wouldn't bother with the post office if you do have consoles and that shipped to you for return, you can save so much time, money and most of all, convenience in the long run using the likes of UPS, DPD, or if you're really cheap (and brave), then even MyHermes. Check Parcel2Go.com for rough prices and that, UPS / DPD are generally my go-to companies for shipping across the UK, and generally from door to door it's 1/2 business days which is what Parcelforce & Royal Mail generally advise and aim for themselves.
Service would probably be mail-in Unless you're local enough to drop-off... I could sell chips, as well as doing the installs - depending on demand...
