    Hello Everyone
I am thinking of buying all the parts need to make my Sega play in component video. I have notice that not all SCART cables are created equal and some will work and others will require some modding and such.
My question is; I a have Sega Genesis Model 1 the "High Definition Graphics' type and I play a lot of 32X so I was thinking of picking up this cable from ebay.

The seller says that in order for this to work correctly I need to have a Sega genesis model 2 on a 32X. I thought they were all the same, but I guess there is room for more confusion... Can somone who has done this kind of hook p shed some light on this?

My other question is regarding a mod that is done to the CSY-2100 (SCART to Component converter) where you can tap the audio from unit and add av outputs.

Anyone know where I can find detailed instructions on how to do this? The CSY is no longer for sale on ebay and another kind has taken its place and I want to make sure I am able to do things right.
Thank you so much for reading this and all help will be greatly appreciated.

A model 1 uses a larger DIN connector than that of a model 2, thus this cable would be incompatible by default for physical reasons. However, if you were to use a 32x on top of that model 1 Genesis you'd be able to use that cable on it. Though don't take my word for it, that is 100% assuming that the pinout of the model 2 Genesis is identical to the pinout of the 32x.

By the looks of it that diagram depicts grabbing audio before it gets processed by the unit, i.e. direct from the SCART signal. In this case the same process would be possible for any such unit and all you'd need is a SCART pinout to figure out which pins.

You say "av output", though. A/V stands for audio/video, not sure what video you'd want to grab at that point.

You are correct. The correct terminology would be RCA audio output or composite. I always call them A/V cables. I am sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

I have found a guy on ebay who say his cable is able to do it, so I will hold him against his words.
I was trying to do this because my Genesis does a Rainbow effect on whites and the 32X corrects and also because I heard that the SCART cable that works on NTSC units is very specific.

Thanks a lot guys I really appreciate your help.

Why would you want composite from your CSY-2100? Component is a FAR better picture.
