I hit up a charity shop today. The lady in there is really nice. I fixed a bunch of stuff for her a few months back and now she insists on giving me games the rare times she has them. So today i got Super Wrestlemania, Splatter house2, Buck rogers, and some nigel mansen car game. All the games were mint and cib apart from the fact the contacts are wrecked. Most EA games get a weird green coloured board over time but some normal MD games have the weird colouring too. some also have contacts essentially missing or very damaged. I took some pictures. I have even bothered to test these as im away from home ATM. Im wondering what causes these, what i can do and how i can preserve it. Using facebook to host it rofl EA game with damaged contacts Normal game with damages contacts Hoping i can fix these as all are mint CIB and even have the wee willy winkies intact
As others have said, those look perfectly normal and in excellent shape. What makes you think the contacts are damaged? There's no visible corrosion there whatsoever based on the pics. -hl718
Yeah, they just aren't using all the contacts. If you were to open the cart, you'd find there's no traces going to the missing spots. I wouldn't recommend it on the EA one, though. You'll probably break it.
I used to wonder why not all contacts were filled up. I remember buying a Japanese Pokemon Yellow years and years ago and returning it thinking it was a pirate since two of the contacts in the middle were missing. BTW they don't look corroded or dirty at all. Where'd you get that idea? Especially the first, looks very clean.
Just the contacts being missing i thought they were damaged. Now i know. And about both being normal coloured. Most EA carts are like that but the one that is the same color PCB as the EA one is a normal megadrive cart which isnt that color PCB normally
Even the colouring doesn't seem that out of place, in my opinion. Just variations in the colouring of PCB used (possibly just different revisions with different components).
