SFC carts(?) used in old SF2 tournament

    Anyone know what these are? (Shown clearly at 7:13) Just some sort of competition carts?


    They use regular SF2 Turbo carts, then the final rounds on the main stage seem to all be played on these things.

    All those monitors, though... x.x

    Looks sort of similar to this. The black bit at the front does make it look like a bit like a copy device, but this is a Capcom tournament in Japan so it can't be.

    Yeah can you imagine? Capcom using backup units in a official tournament? Nintendo would have them shut down in a instant!

    Hard for me to see it clearly, but my guess would be a closed up SFX MULTICHECKER board or similar. Maybe the final tournament used a unique ROM instead of a regular retail SFC SF II Turbo so they used dev boards with EPROMs.

    It just looks like regular SF2 Turbo to me, but I suppose that's the only explanation. SFX MULTICHECKER and the "competition carts" look like they're in the exact same casing, but I can't see a pic of either closed up and sitting on a SFC to really compare with the ones in the video.
