How rare is this game? I've been trying to source this game now for what seems like ages with no joy, not even an ISO on the internet to even check it out. I looked on Digital Press for it's rarity and it said it was worth $80 with a rarity level of 7/10. Does anybody of this game? Is it worth tracking down? And finially if any one does have the game would they be prepared to sell it? Cheers, The-Old-Arcade
Its really rare I'd say. Much rarer than most of the known big hitters, Lucasfilm, Ving arcade conversions. I've been into marty/towns for a few years now and seen it for sale three times (only 2 were complete), twice on yahoo and once privately. I know one other marty fan who has it, but plenty who don't. The complete ones went for more than $70. Worth tracking down? Do you like Beast games, if so its a good conversion.
Yes it's one of my favorite games tbh and would love to buy it if only I could find it. I would offer twice the amount (Delivered) Digital Press have it listed for if you can source me a copy! But if you can't no problem, I appericate the response - Have you had the pleasure of playing this title?
Dang ! it's been awhile since I heard mention of that title  I know I played the first on the Amiga and believe I played the sequel too. Awesome games !
Fair enough. I'll let you know if I see one. I check towns stuff all time for the few games I still need so if there's one I'll probably see it. Price, who knows tbh. Most decent marty games appear too infrequently to have a standard price attached. (Take Zak say, I've seen it sold for 14k yen-40k yen, mint complete of course, and once for E530 on Ebay!) I paid $120 for Beast II and was happy to pay that (initially). I'd been after it for ages for the collection, and an Amiga fan friend had been bigging it up to me for a couple of years. I'd only played 1 back in the day and thought it was pants, but he assured me 2 was a masterpiece, vastly superior to the first. Not my cup of tea though, big letdown. Have you got SotB for Marty. Thats really easy to find and cheap.
No I've not got SOTB, I've seen it for $40 on ebay before though. If you know where I can buy this complete I'd like to pick a copy up too.
Pity they didnt port SOTB 3 over. IMO Amiga versions of all are still definitive! Nice conversions are out there tho of course. There was a touted trilogy for CD32 that never materialised, shame.
Yeah, I like the Amiga version too, to be honest. However I heard this version looks completely different to the Amiga version though.
I asked my Amiga fanboy chum about these. I don't know if he's right or not so take that as you will. He's a big SotB and Amiga fan though and knows his stuff.
One things for sure is that the Sega version of Beast II is a lot easier to play, the shared arranged soundtrack for Beast I on FM Towns & PC Engine is great, but not as good as the original synth, the first stage theme is particularly not as good. Id still like to own every version if i had any games these days!
Apparently the PCE and Sega CD versions have completely different soundtracks to the FM Towns which is apparently faithful the amigas soundtrack. I've heard mixed reviews to be honest about which is the best version. I have it on Amgia and Mega Drive already but still want it on this platform Just for the sake of owning it :icon_bigg
So which is it lads! Amiga sountrack or not? I'll pass the query onto my mate and ask him to test them all (if he can be bothered).
Yeah a fair bit still trying to shift the rest money/room problems etc you know how it goes. Im pretty sure the PC Engine & FM Towns soundtrack are the same for Beast I, for FM vs Mega CD Beast II i dunno. SOTB I is on afaik: Amiga atari st atari lynx amstrad cpc spectrum commadore 64 (GS cart) snes (super shadow of the bast - total lol fest) megadrive (EA version) megadrive (victor version) master system PC engine SCD FM Towns There are screenshots out there of an unreleased Atari version cant remember if its 2600 or XL or somesuch, deffinately old tho. Most converted game ever? unless SF2 mebe.
Shadow Of The Beast 2 as far as I know was only released on: Amiga Atari ST Sega Mega Drive Mega CD FM Towns I've read that much on Shadow Of The Beast 2 while trying to find it that I should be an expert. But forgot half the reference sites I used which contain the differences between the versions along the way.
