Why no talk about this fantastic game?
IMO this is probably the best game I have played the generation. The story is simple but executed beautifully and the colossus fights are amazing.1
But please, if you get this game DO NOT consult an FAQ. Working out how to get onto the colossus is half of the fun.

I want to get this game. Its one of the more original ideas, IMO. I think I'll love it when I get it.

Im on the last colossus, and while as I have to say it does have its moments, for a game thats so simple it sure does need alot more polish. Or to put it bluntly:

The camera makes no sense - why does it insist on looking almost strait down on me when on horseback sometimes, particularly when in wide-open spaces?

The horse is the greater of two evils - I would love to be quoted as saying "If I could only pick one: Kill all the colossi, or just kill the horse, i'd pick the horse". I could write an entire essay on why this is, but I think ill save my keyboard the onslaught.

Lack of a mini map - All too many times i've followed my compass and abruptly found a perfectly positioned (so that it couldn't be seen unless you were right on top of it) canyon, which I then have to find a way across. and after the n'th time it gets old.

Inescapable death - several of the collosi have a problem where if they hit you you'l fall to the ground, and your character won't ever be able to recover fast enough to get back up before the next strike. If this happens your limp (unconscious?) body will just keep getting pummeled till your dead, and theirs not a thing the player can do to stop it.

Enemies that can see through walls - Granted their is only one collosi this was a problem with, but it was a very apparent and annoying one. Wana run away, maybe to try out an idea you have for taking out the collosi? No dice, it knows where you are at all times and will attack before you get to try.

    Other annoyances:
    1. Sometimes your grip meter will be just fine, but you'l be thrown off despite this, and as far as I can tell for no apparent reason.
    2. Other times (VERY rare though) the character will 'teleport' from one position to another relativly close one on a collosi (this happened most often when on a particular flying collossus's wing).
    3. One one collosi (with what I suppose could be considered a beard) while climbing on its 'beard' my character became entrapt in it, and became completly invisible/hidden for about 10-15 seconds. This only happened once, but with him being one of only 16 enemies in the game its inexcusable.
    4. If you take the right paths, and go fast enough, its possible to outpace the systems streaming ability and watch as either the area loads in, or pauses for a moment to load the area.

After saying all that, one would assume I don't like the game. This isn't the case however, I just don't feel it deserves to be rated as highly as it is by so many. In most games I ignore most of the faults, but when a game is so focused as this one is, I expect what little their is to be very highly refined, much more so then I would a larger, or at least less linear game.

As much as I love the game, it gives me a headache everytime I play. It's really too bad that a game of such beauty has so many technical problems, camera issues, and control issues to make it a fun, but annoying experience. I don't know why, but this is one of those games that I love, but I also think of as semi-bad at the same time. Shame it wasn't in production longer, or it may have been a bit less annoying.
